“Charlie is a great trainer. He really listens to you and makes sure your workout is effective. He is very knowledgeable about not only exercise but nutrition too.”
“As a trainer, Charlie doesn’t stop at trying to transform your body (exercise and diet) – he goes right to the heart of the matter by taking the time to understand your underlying beliefs about your body. Through great conversations and continuous coaching he comes to understand what he needs to tweak to help you change your belief systems and get you the best success that you yourself are capable of!”
“Being at CR Fitness is something I never expected. I was initially nervous at the idea of being trained because of various things that fueled my insecurities about exercising. But training at CR Fitness has changed me for the better both physically and mentally. Most of this has to do with Charlie who pushed me in all the right ways. Whether it be with effective training methods or challenging me to find an exercise I’m passionate about. His coaching not only helped me become physically stronger but helped me find confidence in myself. These teachings will hopefully help me stay both physically and mentally fit for college. I would highly recommend CR Fitness to anyone who wants to lose weight, gain strength or just love exercise.”
The treadmill was no longer working; I needed to find a new workout to keep me in shape and motivated. Thanks to a friend, I was introduced to Charlie at CR Fitness. I thank that friend all the time! Not only have I truly enjoyed working out over the last 18 months, I have seen tremendous results. Charlie’s boot camp has changed my life. I have lost more than 10 pounds and my entire body has completely changed shape. Gone are the love handles and extremely flabby mid-section. I have strengthened my entire body and feel so much better about myself. Charlie’s knowledge as a trainer as well as his information regarding nutrition is stellar. I am addicted to boot camp!
After becoming bored with the gym, feeling generally unmotivated, dissatisfied with my appearance, and on the brink of turning 40, a friend told me about CR Fitness. By the end of the first week in my free 2 week trial, I was hooked. By eating cleaner, and working out 3 days per week, my whole body changed — I lost weight and inches and went down 2 jean sizes in less than 2 months. The best part is that I’ve been able to maintain my motivation and investment in looking and feeling good, and being healthier in general. Charlie is an excellent trainer, well read on everything current regarding diets, holistic approaches to lifestyle, and even cognitive psychology. He customizes workouts to accommodate different client needs, and creates an atmosphere that is fun among all of us hardworking boot campers. I have stayed with CR Fitness for a year and a half so far because it works. I recommend it to anyone who has hit a plateau in their workout routine, looking for a great group of people to bring motivation and inspiration, or just needs to shake things up. It’s a great place to start moving towards where you want to be.
I’ve been working out with Peter for about a year now. Peter and Charlie are extremely knowledgeable and created a highly customized program related to my specific injury. They assess, help you set your goals, and then push you to surpass those goals. Peter is creative and keeps the workouts fresh. I feel great every time I leave the CR Fitness facility.
I have been working with Charlie (on and off) for almost three years. I started on a 1-1 basis and then more recently became involved in his boot camps. Charlie has helped me tremendously in both capacities. I never developed a love for working out, but when I hit my 40’s it was clear I had to do something. Charlie has shown me how to work out in a typical health club setting as well as with limited equipment which allows me to have the ability to train at home and on the road. I used to think that unless you had about an hour to spend on working out it wasn’t going to be effective. I now know, thanks to Charlie, how to make the most out of a workout if you find yourself short on time. The boot camps are enjoyable to me because it offers an opportunity to work out with other people and the work outs have variety. When you leave a boot camp session you have done both strength training and cardio. You really feel good.
In the past, I’ve stayed in shape by spending 2 hours at the gym/3 times a week – an hour class for cardio and another hour class for weight training. What I like about Boot Camp is I can get the same results in 45 minutes/3 times a week. I also feel like I challenge myself more in Boot Camp. Recently, I took 2 months off this summer and of course, I noticed that my clothes were tight and that I felt sluggish. Now, thanks to my Boot Camp classes, I have more energy and I have lost 8 pounds and 3% bodyfat! I am motivated to continue to see results!
I first called Charlie for two reasons. One, I had chronic neck and shoulder pain that would often plague me for months at a time, putting an end to my workouts and any progress I had been making at the time. And secondly, because I had, in the last year or two, been carrying around that “mid-life middle” that torments so many women of a “certain age.” I had started to believe there was nothing I could do about that, as all the books and magazines told me, it was the hormones and a slowing metabolism. Skeptically, I decided to give it a shot.
After only a few months I have to say that I am down 12 pounds and my mushy middle is gone. I’ve gone down a pants size, although I’m thinking of returning my new size 6’s because they are too big. What’s more, I’ve been working out pain free, I’m not worried about throwing out my shoulder doing simple tasks and my posture is better.
Charlie is the most focused personal trainer I’ve ever worked with. He asks you to set a goal and then does everything in his power to get you to it. But he will not kill you. His workouts are tough, getting gradually harder as you get stronger, but his interest is in getting you to your goal in a healthy way. Always mindful of preventing injuries, he creates a plan that works with your life. We talk about nutrition, a subject I originally fought him on while he patiently waited for me to see the light. And we talk about the biggest obstacle most people have to achieving health and fitness: our own heads.
Charlie knows a million exercises, but to him that’s not enough. He spends countless hours researching exercise physiology and philosophies, nutrition and health. If your elbow hurts one week, he’ll come back next week sighting five studies on elbow injuries.
Having surpassed my goals, I now need to decide on a new one. Oh, I’m not done. As Charlie says, we are all a work in progress. But I’m turning fifty in a few months and planning to hike the Grand Tetons on my birthday. Thanks to Charlie, I think I’ll make it to the top. Now all I need is a new pair of size four hiking shorts.
In 5 months, I’ve lost 58 pounds and 7 inches off of my waist (and counting!) following the program outlined by Charlie. I could not have reached my goals without his help!
